The bike course is comprised of two loops on gently rolling hills surrounding the community of Medical Lake. The final stage of the event is a two loop run around Medical Lake.

My First Triathlon Sprint is the original distance of the My First Triathlon family of events, developed to attract new athletes to the sport of triathlon.

The My First Triathlon Sprint begins with a ¼ mile swim in Medical Lake, followed by a 12 mile bike ride out and back from Medical Lake then finishes with a 3 mile run around Medical Lake.

Spokane is home to many other triathlon and running events, and the My First Triathlon is your perfect introduction to the sport of triathlon. The non intimidating environment allows you enjoy the event with the pressure of winning.

My Next Triathlon

The My Next Triathlon Olympic and Sprint take place starting 10 minutes before the My First Triathlons, the My Next Triathlon events are also non intimidating with the sole purpose of offering an event to past My First Triathlon competitors who are over qualified for My First Triathlon.

The My Next Triathlon also provides an opportunity for the more competitive My First Triathlon competitors to try and catch the My Nexter’s. It even puts a little on the My Nexter’s to go a littler faster and stay ahead of the first timers.

My Next Triathlon is also to stop young women from getting married to change their name so they can compete in My First Triathlon again.

Awards

All athletes are awarded a finishers medallion for both the Olympic and Sprint Distance Triathlons.

The James Hicks Award

This award is given to the athlete(s) who have competed in the triathlon who have faced a seemingly insurmountable chance of ever competing in a triathlon. The award is in honor of James Hick who in 2005 completed My First Triathlon after loosing over 350 pounds in two years while training. His original weight was 600 pounds, when he showed up on event day he weighed 250 pounds.
